What People Say

I used Sorenson Law for an extremely contentious high conflict custody battle. I have to say that I came to Lacey at the most difficult time in my life, and not only did she treat my case with care and compassion she was fierce and sharp and always knew exactly which steps to take next.  I’m leaving this review because I’m very happy with the care and attention she has given to my case. If you are looking for someone who understands how hard it is to go through a divorce and/or a custody battle and who will always fight for you, I highly recommend Lacey and Sorenson Law.

5-Star Review

How Sorenson Law Approaches Complex Divorce and Child Custody Cases with Confidence.

Our no-games approach to divorce means that we will direct you towards solutions that avoid unnecessary conflict and expense. When a marriage involves a business, we understand that support and  division of assets and debts can become significantly more complicated.

This requires a thorough understanding of business valuation methods, financial statements, and tax returns. At Sorenson Law, we work closely with experts in the field of business valuations to address concerns from all sides.

If you are facing a child custody or visitation case, we will work with you to outline the legal responsibilities for making decisions about a child’s upbringing, including education, healthcare, and general welfare. Most importantly, we are your advocate for making sure your child’s physical custody, or living arrangements, are settled equitably. Child custody cases can be highly contentious, and it is important to have an experienced attorney on your side.

Divorce is a difficult and emotional process that can be overwhelming and stressful. We believe that our clients deserve the best possible representation, and strive to achieve the best possible outcome in every case.

About Lacey Sorenson

From the age of 6 years old, Lacey was raised in Santa Barbara until she left for UCLA and obtained her associates degree.

Despite being surrounded by a family of doctors and nurses, she wanted to be an attorney since she was a little girl.  She wonders whether watching Law and Order every night was the culprit of her career aspirations.

After completing her degree at UCLA, she spent a year or two working in Los Angeles before ultimately obtaining her juris doctorate at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor Law School.

After working in several different legal fields as a law clerk, she found her way back to Santa Barbara where she began her ultimate career in the field of Family Law.

Her parents met and had two children of their own after they each had already experienced several marriages and children from those marriages.  Her three half siblings had three vastly different experiences as children of divorce.

Some of their experiences involved amicable parents who successfully co-parent while others experienced custody “battles” and issues of domestic violence.

So, she’d say that while she was the product of two parents who were able to make it work (30+ happy years and counting) she has an intimate understanding of the perspective of both the children who are going through a divorce or custody disputes and that of the parents.

Every perspective matters and that is what she strives to bring to her practice every day.

How We’d Work Together

Every potential client relationship begins with a phone call and this initial conversation is crucial in establishing a positive and productive attorney-client relationship. You would get to know each other a bit and review the concerns you’d like to address in a safe and non-judgemental space. Here, you would find out about the legal process and potential strategies that may apply to your case.  Lacey would explain the legal options available and outline the potential outcomes and challenges you might face.

Then you would schedule an in-person consultation to delve deeper into the case. During this meeting, you would discuss specific details, gather any necessary documents, and determine a tailored legal strategy. This consultation allows Lacey to provide a more accurate assessment of your case and allows you as the potential client a chance to decide whether you want to proceed with legal representation.  From here, you would sign a letter of intent which solidifies your relationship as her client, outlines timelines, costs and deliverables.
